Scholarships in USA for Pakistani Students: 2026–27 Guide

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Studying in the United States can be expensive, but paying the full advertised tuition fee is not the only option. American universities offer scholarships, financial aid and funded research opportunities that can substantially reduce the cost of a degree. In some cases, eligible students from Pakistan can receive enough financial support to cover almost all their university expenses.

The challenge is knowing where to look.

A student who has just completed FSc needs a different scholarship strategy from someone applying for a master's degree. A Pakistani graduate hoping to pursue a PhD should investigate research assistantships and fellowships rather than rely entirely on undergraduate scholarship lists.

Pakistani students can apply for scholarships in the USA in 2026–27, including Fulbright, university-funded merit scholarships, need-based financial aid and graduate research funding. Some opportunities cover tuition, accommodation and living costs, while others provide only a partial reduction in fees.

This guide explains which scholarships are worth considering for 2027 admissions, their actual funding arrangements, eligibility requirements, application procedures and deadlines.

Can Pakistani Students Get Fully Funded Scholarships in the USA?

Yes. Fully funded and substantially funded study opportunities are available to eligible Pakistani students, although competition can be intense.

The important thing is to understand what a scholarship actually pays for.

A fully funded scholarship may cover tuition, university fees, living expenses, health insurance and travel, depending on the programme.

A full-tuition scholarship pays tuition but may leave the student responsible for accommodation, meals, insurance and other expenses.

A partial scholarship reduces only part of the total cost.

Finally, need-based financial aid is awarded according to a university's assessment of how much a student and their family can afford.

For example, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and MIT have undergraduate financial-aid policies that allow admitted international students to receive support based on demonstrated financial need. Meanwhile, the University of Mississippi offers substantial academic scholarships to qualifying international undergraduates.

At postgraduate level, Pakistani applicants can investigate the USEFP Fulbright Degree Program, Stanford's Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme and university-funded graduate assistantships.

If you're comparing study destinations before deciding where to apply, explore our Study in the USA guide for more information about American universities and undergraduate and postgraduate pathways.

1. Fulbright Scholarship USA for Pakistani Students

The Fulbright Degree Program is one of the most important fully funded postgraduate opportunities available to Pakistani students.

It is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and supports eligible master's and PhD students at American universities.

Unlike scholarships offered by individual universities, Fulbright has a dedicated application process for Pakistani citizens.

What Does the Fulbright Scholarship Cover?

The programme provides funding for:

  • University tuition.

  • Required textbooks.

  • Airfare.

  • A living stipend.

  • Health insurance.

The exact award arrangements are governed by USEFP and the relevant programme conditions.

Fulbright Eligibility for Pakistani Students

For a master's degree, applicants generally need at least 16 years of formal education through a four-year bachelor's degree or an eligible bachelor's and master's combination.

For a PhD, applicants need at least 18 years of formal education through a master's, MPhil or comparable qualification.

Other important requirements include:

  • Pakistani citizenship and residence in Pakistan during the application process.

  • A strong academic record.

  • The required GRE General Test score.

  • Sufficient English proficiency.

  • A commitment to return to Pakistan and contribute to the country.

The current USEFP guidance specifies a minimum GRE score of 145 in each section, with stronger performance expected in the section most relevant to the applicant's discipline.

Candidates selected for Fulbright must also take the TOEFL as required by the programme.

Is work experience required?

Not for every Fulbright master's applicant. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

However, MBA and Public Policy/Administration applicants are required to have at least two years of relevant professional experience.

PhD applicants are encouraged to have relevant teaching, research or public-sector experience.

Clinical medicine is excluded from the programme.

Fulbright Scholarship Deadline for 2027

The application deadline for the 2027 Fulbright Degree Program was April 1, 2026.

That application round has closed.

Students who missed it should prepare for the next officially announced round. As of October 13, 2026, an application deadline for the following round has not been confirmed through USEFP's published degree-programme page.

Do not assume that the next application deadline will fall on exactly the same date.

Do Fulbright Scholars Have to Return to Pakistan?

Yes. Fulbright Degree Program recipients have contractual return and service obligations.

USEFP requires successful candidates to return to Pakistan and serve the country under the applicable terms. Successful PhD candidates also have an HEC bond obligation.

Applicants considering Fulbright should understand these requirements before applying, especially if their longer-term plans involve remaining overseas after graduation.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through USEFP, not through an education consultant.

Typical application materials include academic transcripts, GRE results, recommendations and completed application forms.

The USEFP application process itself is free.

2. Harvard University Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Harvard College provides need-based financial aid to eligible undergraduate students, including international applicants from Pakistan.

A common misunderstanding is that Harvard offers a separate general scholarship exclusively for international students who achieve exceptional grades.

For Harvard College, the primary institutional financial-aid programme is based on demonstrated financial need, not academic merit alone.

How Does Harvard Financial Aid Work?

Harvard considers a family's financial situation, including income, assets and relevant circumstances.

The university states that it meets 100% of admitted students' demonstrated financial need.

International students are eligible for the same undergraduate financial-aid policies as American students.

Harvard also uses need-blind admissions for international applicants, meaning an applicant's ability to pay is not considered when making the undergraduate admission decision.

This does not mean every admitted student automatically receives a fully funded degree.

A student from a family assessed as having substantial financial resources may receive little or no need-based aid.

A student with significant demonstrated financial need may qualify for a much larger grant.

Can Pakistani FSc and A-Level Students Apply?

Pakistani students can apply as international first-year undergraduate applicants.

Harvard evaluates applicants according to their educational background, academic performance, available opportunities and other application materials.

Students should check the current standardized testing requirements. Harvard generally requires the SAT or ACT, with specified alternatives in exceptional circumstances.

Admission is extremely competitive.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Harvard's admissions and financial-aid applications have their own requirements.

International applicants may need financial information from their parents, such as income documents, tax records or employer statements.

The university provides official guidance on submitting financial-aid documents from outside the United States.

3. Yale University Scholarships for International Students

Yale is another American university worth investigating for Pakistani students seeking substantial undergraduate financial support.

Yale College follows a need-blind admission policy for international students and meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted undergraduate applicants.

Its need-based financial-aid offers do not require student loans.

Does Yale Offer Full Scholarships to Pakistani Students?

An admitted Pakistani student with sufficient demonstrated financial need may receive a financial-aid package covering the amount Yale determines the family cannot afford.

The amount varies by student.

It is therefore misleading to advertise one fixed Yale scholarship amount that every successful Pakistani applicant will receive.

What Does Yale Consider?

Admission and financial aid are assessed separately.

For admission, the university considers academic performance, intellectual interests, achievements, recommendations, essays and other factors.

For financial aid, Yale reviews family finances and the required financial documentation.

Students should submit the necessary financial-aid forms by the applicable deadline.

4. MIT Scholarships for Pakistani Students

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offers need-based undergraduate financial aid to admitted international students.

MIT states that it meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for its undergraduate students and does not consider financial need in its admission decisions.

Is MIT Fully Funded for International Students?

MIT can provide substantial financial assistance, including tuition support and additional aid according to the family's assessed circumstances.

For the 2026–27 academic year, MIT lists a full published undergraduate cost of attendance of $92,760 before financial aid.

That figure illustrates why comparing the published price with the actual financial-aid offer is essential.

MIT's financial-aid policy may make attendance much more affordable for eligible students, but admission is exceptionally selective.

Students should not assume that a particular school percentage or SAT score guarantees admission or funding.

Which Students Should Consider MIT?

Pakistani students with particularly strong academic preparation and a genuine interest in science, mathematics, engineering, computing or other MIT disciplines may investigate its undergraduate programme.

They should carefully review standardized test requirements, academic expectations, the application process and financial-aid documentation.

5. Princeton University Financial Aid

Princeton University offers need-based financial aid to undergraduate students, including applicants from Pakistan.

It follows a need-blind admissions policy and meets the full demonstrated financial need of admitted international undergraduates.

Princeton does not award undergraduate academic or athletic merit scholarships.

That distinction matters.

A student does not apply for a so-called Princeton academic excellence scholarship based only on exceptional marks. Instead, eligible applicants apply for undergraduate admission and financial assistance through Princeton's official process.

Who Can Qualify?

Students must first satisfy Princeton's competitive admission requirements.

Those seeking aid must complete the relevant financial-aid application, providing information about their household finances.

Princeton assesses the family's circumstances and determines its financial contribution under the university's policies.

6. Berea College Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Berea College is particularly worth researching for Pakistani students whose families have limited financial resources.

Unlike many universities that charge substantial tuition and offer a relatively small discount, Berea has a longstanding commitment to educational affordability.

What Does Berea Offer for Fall 2027?

Beginning in Fall 2027, Berea College's Financial Freedom Pledge guarantees funding for tuition, housing, food, fees and supplies for enrolled students under its published programme.

The college specifically welcomes international applicants.

Its international admissions guidance states that admitted international students receive financial aid covering tuition, housing, food and fees.

Is Berea College Completely Free?

Students should still budget for expenses not necessarily covered by the financial-aid package, such as certain travel and personal costs.

Berea also requires accepted international students to arrange a $2,200 enrollment deposit before the I-20 is issued, although additional assistance may be available for students unable to pay the full amount.

The college has a work programme, but students should not assume their earnings will cover every personal or family expense.

Eligibility and Admission

Berea evaluates academic preparation, financial circumstances and other application materials.

International applicants must provide an accepted standardized test result.

The college's international admission information currently lists November 30 as its application deadline. Applicants should verify the deadline for their intended intake directly.

Berea is extremely selective in international admissions, so students should not treat it as a guaranteed low-cost backup option.

7. University of Mississippi Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Not every Pakistani student needs to target an Ivy League or similarly selective university to investigate substantial scholarship support.

The University of Mississippi, commonly known as Ole Miss, publishes scholarships specifically for international undergraduate applicants.

These merit awards are particularly useful because the university explains the applicable academic thresholds and award levels.

International Academic Excellence Scholarships

Under its currently published award structure:

Scholarship

Annual award

Published GPA requirement

Mississippi Premier

$28,893

3.90–4.00

Mississippi Champion

$12,000

3.75–3.89

Mississippi Magnolia

$9,500

3.50–3.74

Mississippi Legacy

$5,000

3.25–3.49

These are awards published for international undergraduate students and should be checked again for the student's intended entry year.

The Premier Scholarship has a published limit of 20 recipients per country per academic year, awarded in order of admission.

Do Pakistani Students Need a Separate Application?

For the International Academic Excellence awards, eligible admitted international applicants are considered automatically.

Students must satisfy the relevant English-proficiency requirements and the university's academic assessment.

Pakistani FSc percentages should not be converted into an American GPA using an arbitrary online calculator. The university should determine the appropriate equivalence.

Are These Fully Funded Scholarships?

No. These scholarships generally reduce tuition costs.

Accommodation, meals, insurance, transportation and other expenses may remain payable.

Some additional merit awards exist for qualifying SAT or ACT results, but the university specifies restrictions on combining certain scholarships.

8. Illinois Wesleyan University Scholarships

Illinois Wesleyan University offers merit-based financial awards for eligible international undergraduate applicants.

EducationUSA currently lists international merit scholarships ranging from $15,000 to $38,000 annually, renewable for up to four years or until the student completes the relevant undergraduate degree requirements.

These awards are intended to reduce the cost of attendance.

Can Pakistani Students Apply?

Pakistani students meeting the university's international admission requirements may be considered.

The university assesses academic performance and the other criteria specified in its admissions and scholarship policies.

Students should confirm current award amounts, English-language requirements and the relevant 2027 deadlines before applying.

A large annual merit scholarship can make a private American university more affordable, but students still need to calculate the remaining cost.

9. Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholarship

For Pakistani graduates targeting advanced education, Stanford University's Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme is a major opportunity.

However, it should not be described as a scholarship that automatically funds every master's or PhD student admitted to Stanford.

Knight-Hennessy has a competitive selection process separate from admission to the Stanford graduate programme.

What Does Knight-Hennessy Cover?

Selected scholars can receive up to three years of financial support, including:

  • Tuition and associated fees.

  • Living and academic expenses.

  • A travel stipend for an annual trip to and from Stanford.

  • Additional specified support, including eligible relocation and academic enrichment funding.

Funding after the Knight-Hennessy support period depends on the standard arrangements for the graduate degree.

Eligibility for Pakistani Students

The programme accepts applicants of different nationalities and academic backgrounds.

Students must qualify for and apply to an eligible Stanford graduate programme.

Candidates are evaluated on qualities including independent thinking, purposeful leadership and a civic mindset.

Stanford Knight-Hennessy Deadline for 2027

The Knight-Hennessy application deadline for the 2027 cohort was October 6, 2026, at 1 PM Pacific Time.

This deadline has already passed.

Students interested in a future cohort should monitor the official announcements and prepare their graduate application early.

10. Fully Funded PhD Opportunities and Graduate Assistantships in the USA

Scholarship articles frequently overlook one of the most important funding routes for Pakistani postgraduate students: university-funded graduate assistantships.

Many American doctoral programmes provide financial support through combinations of research assistantships, teaching assistantships and fellowships.

EducationUSA specifically recommends that graduate applicants investigate departments offering tuition waivers and stipends in exchange for teaching or research responsibilities.

Research Assistantships (RA)

Research assistants typically work on academic or funded research projects.

Depending on the university and funding arrangements, an appointment may provide a stipend, tuition remission and other benefits.

For example, a Pakistani student applying for a PhD in computer science could investigate programmes where faculty members conduct research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer vision or distributed systems.

Being interested in the subject is not enough. A strong research background, relevant technical ability and academic fit may be important.

Teaching Assistantships (TA)

Teaching assistants may support undergraduate classes through tutorials, laboratory sessions, grading or other teaching responsibilities.

Appointments can provide financial support, but the funding terms differ across departments.

Some programmes include tuition remission; others provide a stipend without covering every university expense.

University Fellowships

Graduate fellowships may be awarded based on academic excellence, research potential or other criteria.

Some are included in the admission offer, while others require a separate application.

Are Funded Master's Degrees Available?

Yes, but funding is generally less predictable than in many research-based PhD programmes.

A master's programme may offer a scholarship, assistantship or partial tuition waiver, while another programme in the same university may offer no comparable support.

The correct question is not simply, "Does this university offer scholarships?" It is, "Does this specific department fund students in my intended degree?"

Read the university's graduate funding information carefully and ask whether international students are eligible.

USA Scholarships After FSc in Pakistan

Pakistani students who have recently completed FSc Pre-Engineering, FSc Pre-Medical, ICS or another recognized Intermediate qualification can investigate undergraduate admission at American universities.

However, the scholarships available to them differ from postgraduate funding.

Can You Get a USA Scholarship Directly After FSc?

Yes. Some universities consider international secondary-school qualifications for first-year undergraduate admission and provide merit or need-based financial assistance.

Admission and scholarship eligibility depend on each university's published criteria.

For example, one institution may prioritize high school results and standardized tests, while another considers family financial need and evaluates academic performance more broadly.

Do You Need SAT After FSc?

Not every American university requires the SAT or ACT.

However, some selective institutions do require standardized testing or have specific alternative evidence policies.

Students should check the exact admission policy of their chosen institution.

The SAT may also be relevant for merit scholarships at universities where test scores contribute to award eligibility.

What if You Have Average FSc Marks?

Students with moderate academic results should avoid relying exclusively on highly selective universities offering full-need financial aid.

Instead, build a broader university shortlist based on actual admission requirements, total cost and realistic scholarship opportunities.

A student with average grades may find a partial merit scholarship at one university, but eligibility must be confirmed rather than assumed.

For an explanation of undergraduate entry routes, read our Study Abroad After FSc in Pakistan: 2026–27 Guide.

Scholarships for Master's Students in the USA

Pakistani applicants who already hold a bachelor's degree have several possible funding routes.

The strongest option depends on their academic profile.

Recent graduates: Investigate Fulbright, university merit funding, selected fellowships and research-oriented master's programmes.

Applicants with professional experience: Explore Fulbright programmes where experience is relevant, suitable graduate scholarships and discipline-specific opportunities.

Research-focused applicants: Investigate funded graduate departments, faculty projects and direct PhD routes where the university's admission policy permits them.

A strong master's scholarship application often requires more than a good CGPA.

Universities may consider the relevance of your previous studies, academic references, research, internships, employment and reasons for pursuing that particular degree.

How Much Does It Cost to Study in the USA With a Scholarship?

The advertised tuition fee is only one part of the financial picture.

Before choosing an American university, compare the full annual cost of attendance.

Common expenses include:

  • Tuition and mandatory university fees.

  • Accommodation.

  • Meal plans or groceries.

  • Health insurance.

  • Books and academic supplies.

  • Local transportation.

  • Personal expenses.

  • International travel.

  • Visa and related application costs.

Example: Why a $20,000 Scholarship May Not Be Enough

Consider a hypothetical university with the following annual costs:

Expense

Annual cost

Tuition and university fees

$30,000

Accommodation and meals

$12,000

Insurance, books and other expenses

$3,000

Total estimated cost

$45,000

University scholarship

−$20,000

Remaining annual amount

$25,000

These amounts are illustrative, not a quotation from a particular university.

A scholarship worth $20,000 sounds substantial, but in this example the family must still plan for approximately $25,000 each year before additional expenses.

For a four-year bachelor's degree, this difference becomes significant.

This is why a university with a smaller advertised scholarship but lower overall tuition and living expenses may be more affordable.

EducationUSA also recommends planning for potential increases in university costs over the course of a degree.

Use the FES Course Finder to explore possible programmes and compare the official university cost information before committing to an institution.

Merit-Based vs Need-Based Scholarships in the USA

Students often use the word scholarship for all types of financial assistance, but understanding the distinction can save a great deal of time.

A student can have outstanding grades without qualifying for need-based financial aid.

Similarly, a student from a low-income family does not automatically receive financial aid without first satisfying the institution's admission requirements.

Our guide to different types of scholarships explains the broader categories of funding available to international students.

Do Pakistani Students Need to Submit the CSS Profile?

Some American colleges use the CSS Profile to collect financial information for institutional financial aid.

The CSS Profile is operated by the College Board.

It asks about family income, assets and other financial circumstances. International applicants can provide relevant financial information in their home currency.

Not every university requires the CSS Profile.

Some use their own financial-aid forms, while others do not provide need-based aid to international undergraduates.

What Documents May Be Needed?

Depending on the university, Pakistani students may need:

  • Parent or guardian income statements.

  • Tax returns, if applicable.

  • Employer letters or salary statements.

  • Business income information.

  • Bank statements or other financial records.

  • Information about savings, property or other assets.

  • Explanations of unusual financial circumstances.

Students should provide accurate information.

If parents do not file the same tax documents commonly used in the United States, universities may explain alternative documentation requirements for international families.

Official source: College Board — CSS Profile for International Students

Is FAFSA Available to Pakistani International Students?

Most Pakistani students applying to the USA as international students on nonimmigrant student visas are not eligible for US federal student financial aid.

FAFSA is the application used for federal aid and some other financial-aid processes.

For most Pakistani international applicants, funding is more likely to come from the university, a scholarship organization, a graduate department or personal resources.

Students should not confuse FAFSA with the CSS Profile.

The correct financial-aid application depends on the institution and the student's immigration or citizenship status.

How to Apply for Scholarships in the USA From Pakistan

A successful application starts with choosing programmes that fit your academic qualifications and budget.

Step 1: Identify Your Education Level

Start by deciding whether you want to pursue a bachelor's, master's or PhD.

This determines the funding programmes for which you may be eligible.

A recent FSc graduate should concentrate on undergraduate admission and financial aid.

A student with a completed bachelor's degree should also investigate Fulbright, graduate scholarships and research assistantships.

Step 2: Shortlist Universities Based on Funding, Not Rankings Alone

Choose universities that offer your intended degree and provide relevant financial assistance to international applicants.

For each institution, check:

  • Admission requirements for Pakistani qualifications.

  • Available scholarships and financial aid.

  • Whether international applicants are eligible.

  • Whether funding is automatic or requires a separate application.

  • Total tuition and living expenses.

  • English-language requirements.

  • Application and financial-aid deadlines.

If you're comparing universities, our USA study destination page provides information about American education options, while the Course Finder can help you explore available programmes.

Step 3: Prepare Academic Documents

Undergraduate applicants may need Matric and Intermediate records, while postgraduate students normally provide university transcripts and degree certificates.

Additional documents may include:

  • Valid passport.

  • Academic transcripts.

  • SAT or ACT where required.

  • GRE where required.

  • TOEFL, IELTS or other accepted language evidence.

  • Personal statement or application essays.

  • Academic or professional recommendations.

  • CV for graduate applications.

  • Research statements or portfolios for selected programmes.

The exact checklist depends on the university.

Step 4: Write a Specific Personal Statement

A convincing application should explain why the student is suited to the programme.

Avoid submitting the same generic essay to every university.

A student applying for computer science might explain a particular software project, research interest or technical challenge they worked on.

A public policy applicant might describe a meaningful community initiative, relevant research or professional experience.

What matters is being specific and truthful.

Step 5: Complete the Scholarship or Financial-Aid Requirements

Different programmes follow different procedures.

For example:

  • Some universities automatically consider eligible students for merit scholarships.

  • Some require the CSS Profile or an institution-specific financial-aid form.

  • Fulbright applicants submit through USEFP.

  • Knight-Hennessy requires its own scholarship application in addition to an eligible Stanford graduate application.

  • Graduate assistantships may be included in departmental admission or require further steps.

You do not always need a university admission offer before applying for funding. In many cases, admission and scholarship applications are submitted together.

Step 6: Compare Offers Carefully

When universities respond, compare their financial-aid offers using the total cost of attendance.

A scholarship should be evaluated by the amount it actually reduces from your remaining bill.

Check whether the award is renewable, whether the amount stays the same every year and what academic performance is needed to retain it.

For more help organizing the process, read our 12-month study abroad preparation guide.

Department-specific; some applications close well before the academic year begins

Do not rely on a general September intake deadline. Competitive scholarships can close many months before the programme starts.

How to Improve Your Chances of Getting a USA Scholarship

There is no guaranteed formula, but several decisions can make an application more competitive and financially realistic.

Choose Programmes That Match Your Actual Profile

A strong academic record is useful, but applicants should also demonstrate that their qualifications suit the intended course.

Someone applying for a research-based PhD should pay close attention to the department's research areas and supervision opportunities.

For undergraduate scholarships, admission standards and financial-aid arrangements are equally important.

Invest Time in Your Application Essays

Essays should communicate genuine motivation, achievements and specific experiences.

It is better to explain one meaningful accomplishment clearly than fill a statement with general claims about leadership and passion.

Choose Appropriate Referees

Ask lecturers, teachers or supervisors who know your work.

A detailed recommendation can describe how you solved problems, contributed to a team, completed research or demonstrated academic ability.

Apply to More Than One Suitable Institution

Students should avoid constructing a shortlist made up entirely of extremely selective institutions.

A balanced list might include highly competitive full-need universities, merit-scholarship institutions and lower-cost universities where the remaining cost is manageable.

Prepare Financial Documents Early

Financial-aid applications can require substantial documentation.

Begin preparing family income records and other required information before the deadline rather than after receiving an admission decision.

Read Renewal Conditions

An annual scholarship may require a certain university GPA, full-time enrollment or continued eligibility.

Understand these conditions before accepting an offer.

Common Scholarship Mistakes Pakistani Students Should Avoid

Assuming every scholarship is fully funded

A tuition reduction is not the same as funding for tuition, accommodation and living expenses.

Believing scholarships can only be applied for after admission

Some scholarships and financial-aid programmes are assessed during the admission process. Others require separate applications.

Using old scholarship amounts

Award values can change each academic year. Always check the applicable intake.

Confusing undergraduate and postgraduate awards

Fulbright Degree Program funding is not intended for students applying directly after FSc.

Ignoring the cost after the scholarship

A large scholarship can still leave a substantial annual balance.

Relying on a consultant's funding guarantee

Scholarship decisions are made by the awarding organization or university. No education consultant can legitimately guarantee an independent scholarship selection outcome.

Paying someone to submit a free Fulbright application

USEFP states that its Fulbright application is free. Applicants should use the official submission procedure and avoid anyone selling application access.

Does a USA Scholarship Guarantee a Student Visa?

No.

Receiving a university scholarship or admission offer does not automatically guarantee an American student visa.

Students normally need to follow the relevant visa process, present the required documentation and satisfy the applicable visa conditions.

For academic university study, the usual nonimmigrant student visa category is F-1.

A university's Form I-20, financial evidence and other documents may be relevant.

Students whose scholarships do not cover the full cost of attendance should be prepared to demonstrate how the remaining costs will be funded.

Some scholarship or exchange programmes have different visa arrangements. For example, Fulbright awardees should follow the visa instructions provided through their official programme administration.

For common documentation problems and possible next steps, read our guide to what happens if a student visa gets rejected.

Find USA Universities and Scholarship Opportunities With FES Pakistan

There are several ways to reduce the cost of studying in the United States, but not every funding programme will match every student's qualifications or financial circumstances.

A strong starting point is to identify your intended degree, check which universities accept your academic background, and calculate the remaining expenses after any potential scholarship.

FES Higher Education Consultants can help Pakistani students explore university options, understand admission requirements and compare available study pathways.

For independent programmes such as Fulbright and university financial aid, applicants must follow the respective organization's official application process.

When requesting an assessment, share your latest qualification, grades or CGPA, intended degree, preferred subject, available annual budget and target intake.

The right university is not necessarily the one offering the largest advertised scholarship. It is the institution where your academic goals, admission eligibility and actual financial resources come together.

Scholarships are competitive and subject to the relevant awarding organization's rules. FES does not guarantee university admission, independent scholarship funding or visa approval.
